9/27/2022 0 Comments London, EnglandWe left Edinburgh early Thursday morning and took the train to London which, in and of itself, was one of the highlights of our trip for me! There’s something so timeless about traveling on a train. Toby had upgraded us to first class so it was really a special experience, sans the restroom not having any toilet paper. That made for quite a comical moment!
London absolutely captivated me! Immediately after we checked into our hotel we took an uber to Chelsea so that we could check out the area around the stadium and get Mac a new “kit” which I now know is a soccer jersey. He is a HUGE fan so it was fun to see it and facetime him while we walked around. We were in London for 3 nights and tried to pack in as much as possible without it being too overwhelming for me physically. I loved exploring the city and can honestly say I like it even more than NYC which is really saying a lot! This trip was unique for us in that we didn’t have plans for any fancy dining or overly special events, but we really just wanted to soak up the city. I love the hustle and bustle of London and arriving 2 days after the Queen’s funeral really added to the buzz and pageantry of the City. I learned so much about the history of London which surprised me as I have always sought out books on Royal History, specifically of the Tudor period. Our first full day we spent seeing the city via an on-off bus which was hands down the best decision! We saw so much! This really helped me to not over do it which at this point in the trip I was very close to doing. I could have sat on that bus for days seeing it all! The weather was perfect as well. A highlight for us both was touring the Tower of London! To be in the exact spot where so much happened thousands of years ago was mind blowing! As mentioned I lean towards historical fiction and have read countless books about Kings and Queens who lived in that exact spot. I felt like I was part of it all. I can’t wait until we can return to London again and see even more. It’s such a HUGE city and impossible to see it all so we hope to return soon. The flight there from ATL is about 7 hours so really not that bad. I hope we can return in 2023.
